Overview
The Department of Anthropology and Interdisciplinary Programs (AIP) is an academic and activist space for students committed to engaging issues ranging from global economic inequality in the past and the present, to peace building in war-torn societies, to gender and racial justice globally and locally.
The Department is perched at an exciting and vital moment in higher education, as it prepares students with the cross-cultural and global perspective necessary for a range of careers from social work, urban planning, international development, engineering, education, journalism, to public health and allied professions.
In a competitive job market, our majors and minors have the edge because they gain essential training as flexible, collaborate, and unbiased thinkers with real-life training in cross-cultural comparison.
Dedicated to pursuing an antiracist, intersectional, and anticolonial pedagogy, the Department supports the intellectual and creative pursuits of our students and our faculty. Join us and exercise your curiosity and compassion for our interconnected world.
The AIP department is home to five programs that offer a range of majors and minors. These are Anthropology, International and Global Studies, Latin American and Latino Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, and a new minor in Health Justice. Please explore the program tabs for further information.
