This course will explore the impact of 21st C technologies -- cell phones, social media, text messaging, virtual realities -- on our conceptions of ourselves and our relationships. Questions considered will include what constitutes identity whether online or “in real life;” what aloneness looks like in an era of constant connectivity; and how intimate relationships may be affected. We will connect these questions to core psychological concepts.
