This course teaches the basic principles in design, operation and safety of nuclear reactors. Basic principles of Reactor Physics and Thermal-Hydraulics will be first reviewed followed by a description of different reactor types, design of reactor thermal and control systems, normal and transient operations, reactor safety and licensing. The course includes nuclear reactor safety analyses using a reactor simulation code, PCTRAN.
