Description
An in-depth look at the process specific to the editorial profession, including book acquisition, manuscript editing (copyediting, line editing, proofreading); selling a manuscript at the editorial meeting; author/agent/editor relations; book contracts and subsidiary rights; seeing a writers project from concept to manuscript to bound book; the book review process; and the editors relationship with the marketing, sales, and advertising departments. This course will include class visits by authors and industry professionals, who will explore their individual relationship to the process of book making. Students will acquire the basic skills and knowledge necessary to successfully enter a professional editorial position.
