Course Title

Political Systems of Africa

Department(s)

Description

This course provides a broad overview of African politics. It does so in two ways. First, it gives a broad political history of the African continent from precolonial times until the present, with a particular emphasis on the postcolonial period. Second, it introduces students to key debates about the continent within the field of political science and in public policy more broadly. We do this through close, critical readings of key texts which have shaped perennial debates about politics in Africa.
