Description
This upper-level undergraduate course is designed to develop student knowledge and insight into the field of psychological trauma and healing. During the course of this semester, we will explore the history and current theories of trauma, the effects of trauma, trauma presentations and evaluation, and clinical interventions. We will also examine the concepts of resilience and post-traumatic growth. Throughout the course we will also discuss, practice, and implement a range of effective strategies in order to address Vicarious Trauma/Compassion Fatigue. Drawing on the importance of interpersonal connections to facilitate healing and reduce trauma induced isolation, course assignments will incorporate both individual and group projects. When this course is offered online, camera use during class meeting at all times is required.
